Rutland May Days

The Rock School is proud to be a part of this years Rutland May Days festival on Thursday May 17th. The Rock School will have our Rock Bands on the stage between 6 pm and 8 pm at Rutland Centennial Park. Get ready to hear some great young talented kids perform their favorite tunes! Our students will be playing everthing from Rock to pop, and you can expect to hear classic tunes as well as new radio hits!

The Rutland May Days event is the first of a number of cool events that the Rock School will be taking part in this spring! Our Rock Bands are excited and are working hard in their band music lessons to perform their best! Stay tuned to hear about more great events coming up! Dustin

Dustin is one of the Rock School’s most ambitious and hard working students! He is always challenging himself to be the best player he can be, and is not afraid to take on a song no matter how difficult it may be!: Dustin playing a concert

Dustin came to the Rock School in the spring of 2011 with very little guitar experience, but lots willingness to learn! He took a few private guitar lessons before joining his first group. Even though he was put with more advanced students he kept up fairly well for his first time in a band! In the fall of 2011 he joined up with a young talented drummer named Kieran, and had good chemistry together right away! The two boys soon were joined by another guitarist named Marcus and “To Die Like Kings” was born! their first term together they tackled some tough songs including “More than a Feeling” by Boston.

Dustin has grown as a guitarist in large part because of his band! The Rock School has been the stepping stone for Dustin perfecting his art! Now his band has been joined by a talented young singer named Jade, and she rounds out what can be expected to be an amazing band! Keep it up Dustin!

Summer Band Camp

Summer is rapidly approaching, and the Rock School is gearing up for our Summer Band Camps for the 3rd straight year! Through out May, the Rock School will be taking early bird registrations for the summer camp, and will be giving you some different options this year for the program!

This year the Rock School will be giving our students the opportunity to sign up for 1 week programs or 2 week programs! If students sign up by the end of May enrolling for our 1 week program They will get our early bird discount which will give them 1 FREE band class! Students enrolling for the 2 week program will get the 2 week discount which is 2 FREE classes, plus the early bird special which is 1 FREE class for each week! That is a total of 4 FREE CLASSES! Oscar

Oscar is one of the Rock School’s most enthusiastic young students! He has been playing guitar for less than a year, but is very eager to challenge himself on the guitar. He loves performing on stage, and is always exciting to watch. He knows how to rock out!

Oscar also loves to sing, and has sung many songs at the Rock School. Some of his favorite bands and artists are Bon Jovi, AC/DC, and Michael Jackson! He brings an energy to his performances that show he has what it takes to be a rock star! He has only taken a few private guitar lessons, but already he is excelling! Entertaining, positive, and fun are the best words to describe Oscar, and it will be great to see how far he comes in the future!

Tyler

Tyler has been learning guitar at the Rock School since 2008. He took private guitar lessons for 2 and a half years before joining his first youth band! His first group was called “Anti Bieber” because they all had a strong dislike for Justin Bieber’s music! The group had a great start together, but new they would have to get a more serious band name! The other guitarist left the group after the first term, but Tyler and Saul, the groups drummer and lead singer, were determined to keep playing together, and spent last fall looking for a new member and deciding on a new band name “Ca$h”!

Their new band now has another new guitarist named Mathew, and the group gets better everytime they practice together! Tyler loves being in a band with two boys that he considers good friends! He is very ambitious to become a rock star and is on the right track to doing so! This June his band will be performing in the Fat Cat Parade, and has just started his second term with his new band lineup! Keep rockin’ Tyler!

Winter Term Concert

Classes are finishing up for the winter season and the big show is coming up! On Monday, March 26th the Rock School is having our term ending concert at The OUC College Theater on KLO Road! The doors open at 4:30, and the first group `Cash`will take the stage at 5 pm! Admission is FREE, so bring as many people as you can to enjoy a great show put on by our students!

We will also be giving away PRIZES through out the night, but you have to be there to win! The concert will also be the last opportunity to get signed up for the upcoming spring youth band term! Guitar lessons, drum lessons or even bass or keyboards, the Rock School has a spot for you in a band next term! Come out the the KLO College theater on Monday, March 26th! 8 great bands, 1 great night, and fabulous PRIZES to be won! Don`t miss this!

The Objected “Enter Sandman”

Here is one of the Rock School’s newest bands playing Metallica’s “Enter Sandman”. You’ll hear some great lead guitar by Marcus, awesome drumming from Kieran, and some heavy rhythm guitar chops by Dustin. These guys did great for their first Rock School band, and you can expect even better at the next concert! Our youth band program is a fun way to get great music lessons

Final Week Of Band Classes

The winter youth band is coming to a finish, and the students have been preparing some really cool songs for the upcoming show! This week is the final week for all the bands to get their songs finished and ready to perform! Some of the wicked tunes that groups will be performing this term are “Highway to Hell” by AC/DC, “We Will Rock You” by Queen, “Welcome To The Jungle” by Guns N Roses, “Haven’t Had Enough” by Mariana’s Trench, “Hotel California” by Eagles, “21 Guns” by Green Day, and the awesome new track by Soundgarden “Black Rain”!

These songs will just give you a taste of what to expect at the next concert! Some bands have even written some original songs this term, and come up with some cool band names! Some of the great band names from this term are Black Thunder, The Objected, Acid Skulls, and CA$H! We can’t wait to see even more great rockers next term! It’s not too late to get signed up for the spring! The Rock School is all about great guitar lessons for kids, and having fun playing in a band on your favorite rock instrument!

New Website!

It is finally here! The new Rock School website has officially been launched, and we are excited to see the great reaction that it is generating! This new site brings out what the Rock School is all about, and has an awesome design that is visually exciting. We hope that this will get you inspired to take some great music lessons at the Rock School. Join a youth band or take some private guitar lessons.

This site was made possible by a number of dedicated people, and the Rock School would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved. Our clients gave valuable insight when the design was being put together, so thanks to all of our great customers! Jayce from Van City Studios for taking some great pictures for the website. Great job! Steve the owner and head instructor at the Rock School for helping provide the content for the site, and finally Shane and his great team at Pixel Savvy for building this awesome design and creating something that says what the Rock School is all about. This site definitely does that! Thank you Shane for all your hard work.

Registration Info Session

Our new registration special has generated a lot of buzz, and we would like to give you the opportunity to know more about our great Youth Band Program! On Saturday, February 11th we will be having a 2 hour info session from 5 pm to 7 pm. At this session you`ll get the opportunity to meet Steve, the Rock School owner and head instructor! Steve will be there to tell you about the fun events that the Rock School will be involved in this spring, answer any questions that you might have about our programs, and get you registered for our next Rock School band program!
This info session will be held at the Rock School located at 1135 b Gordon drive! Don`t miss your chance to see what the Rock School is all about! This event is open to both kids and parents, and is totally FREE to attend!
